Character isn't the author of Destiny!

An unintended trilogy of posts:

"A person who does not harbour contemptuous feelings in their heart is a blessing to their near and dear. However, this very part of their character is a curse to themselves, for these hearts are the ones which get easily broken but can afford to cry only in silence and loneliness." (1/3)

"Life is unfairly favorable to a person who doesn't care about others' feelings being hurt. If they encounter a person who has genuine concern for others, they selfishly enjoy the benefits this other person can provide. If they encounter someone like themselves, they have nothing to complain anyway. Why do you practise this injustice, Life?" (2/3)

"If you be good, there is no guarantee that all good will happen to you; If you are bad, there is no compulsion that your fate will be bad. You are good only because you can't be anything but good; You are bad only because you can't be anything but bad. Unfortunately, Character isn't the author of Destiny." (3/3)

Ironically, the first two posts in the trilogy were written on 4th May 2018 whereas the third (which also appears to be the answer to the mind-boggling questions asked by the first two) was made on 2nd May 2011. Yes - you read it right :-)

Towards the Start Line

"After gleefully conferring on me the Gold Medal with trust, Life inaugurated the race and asked me to run it. To gratefully prove that I indeed deserve the First Prize, I have been running tirelessly towards the START LINE, unaware of where it lies!"

The above is the translation I made of the following Tamil verse I wrote on 12-Oct-2018 (exactly a year ago):

'Hit' Song!

I'm told that song is a 'hit'!
Yet to me, it's a "super hit" -
Not on the telly's charts, but hard
On my poor little heart!

While I hear it as glorified noise;
Some term it youth's voice!
Hmmm! What do I say when they
Declare it the music of their day?

I'm surprised, with musical bombs
Exploding to applauses of aplomb,
How music could get so re-defined
With its soulful content quarantined!

Hot or sweet, a song needs to convey
The intended flavor in its genuine way!
With no power and life seen in reflection,
How can it be a musical composition?

Astronomical Auscultations

Dear All,

This is a poem I wrote in 1997, during my second year MBBS, for my college's wall magazine! As I expected, it confused everybody! Now, let me see how the new readers react. Comments please!

Yours Always Musically,
Dr J Vijay Venkatraman.

Astronomical Auscultations

To the twinkling stars - I tell a word,
You are dead altars - the truth appears weird!
Still you're adored by this dunces' old world:
As synonymous with the great Santa Claus' beard!

Oh! Mother Earth - Her feminine nature matches none:
Obviously, of these labyrinthine minds, She's just one!
Stars may give Her the melody of enchanting tone;
But will they ever cater to Her the peacock throne?

There's something to say on the milky Moon -
Would it become evergreen to enlighten the noon?
Hope says the boon will arrive very soon:
Before the speculations avalanche a mental typhoon!

Worldly wise people know what's that's real
Living closest star that grants all the fuel -
To run life on the globe in this trial
Method of life - the Sun which's the revival!

There the dawn's approaching - the night to end
When His omnipotent rays - come to mend
The irrational minds for their ignorance to descend
On that fine morning - She'll know the Legend!

Love civilized the world and the Mankind in it

Dear Reader,

Happy New Year! We start this year's first post with the poem that we wrote for printing in our wedding reception invitation! Though it didn't find a place in the invitation, it is finally published today, after three years of hibernation, on this blog! We would be glad to know what you feel about our thoughts and words!

With thanks & regards,

Vijay & Harrini.

Love welcomed Mankind to this Earth!
Love made pairs out of men & women;
Love made families out of groups;
Love, in its course, created civilization!

Love defined the kith & kin!
Love taught acceptance of each other;
Love determined the basis of humanity;
Love, in romance, evolved to Marriage!

Marriage united lovers in Life's journey!
Marriage made relatives out of strangers;
Marriage made parents from couples;
Marriage meant happiness for the families!

Marriage transformed dreamers to achievers!
Marriage succeeded when spouses were friends;
Marriage glorified companionship for life;
Marriage, thereby, immortalized Love!

SMS Poem - 1 - Life, The Teacher

Hi All,

I am back to blogging after a long time! I didn't want 2008 to end incompletely and hence, thought of marking this return on 31-Dec-08 itself, by publishing this 'SMS Poem' that I wrote quite long ago! I call this an 'SMS Poem' as it was first written as a short message on my mobile phone and more so because it consists exactly of 160 characters, as in a regular SMS. I have some more of them in stock and intend to publish them if readers find this one interesting. Now, here is the first 'SMS Poem', which I've titled as 'Life, The Teacher' as I type this post:

Years leapt fast; metamorphoses came in;
Trials passed struggles as verdicts;
Maturity was the gain & limitation, the lesson.
Still, the heart aims to be ideal!

Please let me know your comments and thoughts! I wish all the readers a very Happy 2009!

With thanks & regards,
Vijay.
