எங்கள் இசை ஆதவனே!

இன்று இசைஞானி இளையராஜாவின் 82ம் பிறந்தநாள்!

அவரைப் பற்றி எழுத எத்தனையோ இருக்கின்றன! பணிச்சுமை காரணமாகப் புதிதாக எதையும் சிந்திக்க இன்றைய நாள் முழுவதும் எனக்கு வாய்ப்பு அமையவில்லை. ஆனால், நான் அதிகம் கேட்டிராத (கீழே குறிப்பிட்டுள்ள) அவரது இரண்டு பாடல்களைக் கவனித்துக் கேட்கும் வாய்ப்பு எதிர்பாராத வகையில் இன்று கிடைத்தது:

1) 1992ம் ஆண்டு வெளியான கில்லர் என்ற தெலுங்குப் படத்தில் இடம்பெற்ற 'ரம்பலகே ரன்ஸுமொஹுன்னி' என்ற துள்ளலிசைப் பாடல்.

2) இன்னும் மூன்று நாட்களில் வெளியாக இருக்கும் தமிழ்த் திரைப்படமான 'பேரன்பும் பெருங்கோபமும்' படத்தில் இடம்பெற்றுள்ள 'ஒரு மனைவியாய்' என்ற மெல்லிசைப் பாடல்.

மேற்கூறிய இரண்டு பாடல்களும் எல்லா விதங்களிலும் வேறுபட்டவை. ஆனால், அவற்றில் உள்ள முத்திரை ஒன்று - எவராலும் முழுக்க நகலெடுக்க முடியாத ராஜமுத்திரை! என்னென்ன உணர்ச்சிகள் உயிர்களுக்கு ஏற்பட வாய்ப்பு இருக்கிறதோ அத்தனைக்கும் அவர் பாடல் செய்திருக்கிறார் எனினும், அதனினும் சிறந்ததாக நான் பார்ப்பது, அவற்றில் உள்ள அவரது தனித்துவத்தையே! 

கடந்த 30 ஆண்டுகளாக ஒரு ஆத்மார்த்தமான ரசிகனாக அவரது படைப்புகளைத் தேடித் தேடிக் கேட்கக்கூடிய எனக்கு, பழைய பாடலோ புதிய பாடலோ, அவரது எந்த ஒரு பாடலையும் முதன்முறையாகக் கேட்கும் போது ஏற்படும் வியப்பு குறைந்ததே இல்லை என்பது இப்போதெல்லாம் எனக்கு வியப்பாக இல்லை. எப்போதும் இன்ப இசை ஆச்சர்யங்களைத் தனக்குள் வைத்திருந்து நாம் விரும்பும் போதெல்லாம் நமக்குத் தரும் நமக்கே நமக்கான ஒரு அட்சய பாத்திரத்தை எவ்வாறு வார்த்தைகளால் புகழ்ந்து தீர்த்திட முடியும்?

இன்னும் நூறாண்டு காலம் வாழ்ந்து இன்னும் பல்லாயிரம் இசைக்காவியங்கள் படையுங்கள், எங்கள் இசை ஆதவனே!

நீர் நீரே!

எம்மோடு எப்போதும் இணையாக ஓடிவரும் நதி நீரோ (நீரோ)? அல்லது உம் இசையெனும் நதியால் என்றென்றும் வளம்கொள்ளும் நிலம்தாம் யாமோ? அரை நூற்றாண்டாய் எம் வாழ்வுக்கு முழுமை தரும் நீர் 100 நூற்றாண்டுகள் நலமுடன் வாழ்ந்திருக்க எவரும் ஏற்கும் இறையாய் என்றும் மலர்ந்து நிற்கும் உம் இசையே உமக்கு அருள் செய்யட்டும்!

நட்சத்திர அர்ச்சனை

 20 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்பு இதே நாள். கோவை மருத்துவக் கல்லூரி வளாகத்தில் அமையப்பெற்ற அருள்மிகு வித்யா கணபதி திருக்கோயிலில் #இளையராஜா என்ற பெயருக்கு அர்ச்சனை செய்யச் சொல்லிக் கேட்கிறோம் நானும் சில இசையுணர்ந்த நண்பர்களும். "நட்சத்திரம்?" என்று கேட்டார் அர்ச்சகர். "அவரே நட்சத்திரம் தான்" என்று நினைத்தபடியே "தெரியாது" என்றோம். ஜென்ம நட்சத்திரத்துக்கு அர்ச்சனை செய்து விபூதி கொடுத்தார். எனக்குத் தெரிந்து நேரடியாக என் குடும்பத்துடன் சம்பந்தப்படாத ஒருவருக்கு நான் அர்ச்சனை செய்யச் சொல்லிக் கேட்டது அதுவே முதல் முறை. அல்லது, இவரும் எங்கள் குடும்ப உறுப்பினர் தான் என்று எனக்கு நானே பறைசாற்றி மகிழ ஆசைப்பட்டதன் விளைவே அந்நிகழ்வா என்று தெரியவில்லை.

இருபது ஆண்டுகளில் கடவுள், கோவில், அர்ச்சனை, வேண்டுதல் போன்றவற்றின் மீதுள்ள நம்பிக்கையும் ஈடுபாடும் ஏற இறங்க இருந்தாலும் இவர் நன்றாகப் பலகாலம் வாழ்ந்து இசையால் இன்னும் பல தலைமுறைகளை அரவணைக்க வேண்டுமென்ற உளமார்ந்த அவா மட்டும் தொடர்ந்து கொண்டே இருக்கிறது. இருக்கும்!

The common man's one & only original global classical music composer in the truest sense, turns 70 today - only chronologically, of course! He is sure to remain ever youthful through his tunes and will reign as the undisputed king of his fans' minds, true to his name! May the rest of the world be blessed enough to comprehend the beauty of his creativity and enjoy its relevance to LIFE as a whole, as we do 🙂

கொள்ளும் தனிமையில் கடவுளைக் காண்பவர்!

தன்ரசிகரைத் தனிமை கொல்லாமல் காப்பவர் - 

அவர்தம் பிறந்தநாளன்று வாழ்த்துமின்றி வணக்கமுமின்றி 

எண்ணத்தால் நிறைகிறேன் - நன்றியை நவில!

A simple man who enjoys isolation but (through his great compositions) has saved millions of his fans of three generations from being isolated, was born on this day, sixty-nine years ago! Celebrating his birthday in every possible way is a custom for some, means business for many but for us his fans, it is a calm genuine gesture of our heartfelt gratitude for him. May Ilaiyaraaja live amidst us to treat many more generations with his ever-flowing river of music!

நன்றி, தலைவா!

On his 68th birthday...

Maybe the film industry is not solely dependent on him for 'hit songs' anymore (though no one music director has displayed the capability of replacing him singly till date).

But, even after 35 years of service, he is still an active composer - in fact, the most sought one for movies with a difference. It is still news if he refuses or accepts a movie.

His name is still enough to market a movie and his new albums' sales are still predictably stable irrespective of the movie's starcast - all being records which the generation next to him can only dream of breaking.

And, he is still busy working on multiple projects in numerous languages silently while many ignorantly refute his market value. I'm proud to be a fan of ILAIYARAAJA!

May he live long for this whole world to experience and enjoy his musical peace!

On Ilaiyaraaja's 67th Birthday

"புதிய மெருகோடு பழமை விலகாமல் ஜொலிக்கும் உன் பாட்டு" says Kavignar Vaali in the song 'Oru murai kettaale' (Movie: Inime Naanga Dhaan - Released in 2007) - This is the best verse that I could think of on Ilaiyaraaja's 67th Birthday!
